NORMA UPDATE: Saturday October 21st 2023 15:00 PM

Official have announced the reopening of the SJD International Airport for October 22nd, 2023 at 7 AM. We encourage all passengers to please check Arriving flights and Departing flights or, your airline directly for updates on flight schedules.


UPDATE: Saturday October 21st, 2023 13:00 PM

Nora is currently passing over Cabo San Lucas and the souther Baja California state upwards to La Paz. Many regions have lost power and cellular signal. It continues to rain and the airport remains closed today. As officials better access the region a decision for SJD Airport services will be reaccessed early Sunday morning.


The SJD Airport will close on Firday at 6 PM and hope to reopen at noon on Sunday October 22, 2023. Los Cabo Airport and local authorities have announced that due to approaching Hurricane Norma the following airlines have canceled ALL OPERATIONS for October 21st, 2023. Please contact your specific airline to make accommodations for rescheduling.

Hurricane Norma Los Cabos: UPDATE

The government of Mexico has extended the Tropical Storm Warning from La Paz northward to San Evaristo along the east coast of the Baja California peninsula. The government of Mexico has also issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the west coast of mainland Mexico from Topolobampo to Bahia Tempehuaya.

A Hurricane Warning means that hurricane conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area. A warning is typically issued 36 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical-storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations difficult or dangerous. Preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion.

As of Friday October 20th, 2023 6AM PST hurricane Norma is a Category 3 and projected to have Heavy rains and Flash Flooding in Southern Baja California Sur Over the Next Few Days… Tropical Storm Conditions Expected to Reach the Warning Area Tonight. Hurricane Norma is at Location: 19.2°N 108.9°W Moving: NNW at 7 mph Min pressure: 958 mb Max sustained: 115 mph. 

A Hurricane Warning has been issued for the far southern portion of the Baja California peninsula, as Norma is projected to bring hurricane conditions on Saturday as it approaches or crosses the region. Additionally, tropical storm conditions are anticipated within the tropical storm warning areas in Baja California Sur on Saturday.

Hurricane Norma Wind Speeds

The onset of heavy rainfall from Norma is expected to affect the southernmost regions of Baja California Sur later today, persisting through Sunday. This precipitation has the potential to trigger flash flooding in urban areas and could lead to mudslides in higher terrain locales.
