Beginning June 2025, all international visitors over the age of 15 who stay more than 24 hours in Baja California Sur — including Los Cabos, La Paz, Loreto, and Todos Santos — are required to pay a 470 MXN (approx. $26 USD) tourism tax and any associated fees. This is subject to Article 129bis of the Baja California Sur State Finance Law.
This mandatory tax supports state infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and public services that benefit both residents and visitors.
Do I need to pay if I’m just connecting through the airport?
No. Transit passengers staying less than 24 hours are exempt.
Are children required to pay?
No. Only travelers 15 years and older are required to pay.
Can I pay for multiple travelers on one form?
Yes. Up to 10 travelers can be included in one payment form.
Is this only for air travel?
No. The tax applies to all entry points: airports, cruise ports, and road crossings.
Can I pay after I arrive?
Yes, but pre-payment is strongly recommended to avoid delays.
Is the tax per day or per trip?
It is per trip, not per day.
What if I forget to pay?
You may be required to pay at the airport or your destination point before your departure.
Who do I show my receipt to?
Have it ready for inspection during airport check-in or departure point security if requested.
Can I get a refund?
No. Once issued, the tax payment is non-refundable.
