Baja California Sur Tourist Tax

Since June 2025, all foreign visitors aged 15 and over who stay more than 24 hours in Baja California Sur — including Los Cabos, La Paz, Loreto and Todos Santos — must pay a tourism tax of 470 MXN (about $25–26 USD) per person. It’s a one-time, per-trip charge under Article 129bis of the state finance law, and it applies however you arrive: by air, cruise or road.

This mandatory tax funds state infrastructure, environmental protection and public services that benefit residents and visitors alike.

How to Pay the Tourism Tax

The tax is paid online, before you leave the state, and takes just a few minutes:

  1. Open the payment portal and add each traveler (up to 10 people per form).
  2. Enter your passport number, email address and arrival date.
  3. Pay securely by card.
  4. Save the emailed receipt with its QR code — that’s your proof of payment.

Pre-paying before you fly is strongly recommended so you aren’t caught in a line on arrival or departure.
