Three New Routes Connect Los Cabos for Winter 2026-27

Three airlines are scheduled to launch direct flights to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) this December, adding new connections from within Mexico and from two Canadian cities ahead of the winter travel season.

Volaris: Cancun to Los Cabos from 1 December

Volaris is scheduled to begin direct service between Cancun International Airport (CUN) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) starting 1 December 2026. The route adds a domestic connection between two of Mexico’s major resort destinations. Travellers interested in visiting more than one Mexican destination may find the route useful for building a multi-stop itinerary.

Air Transat: Montreal to Los Cabos from 10 December

Air Transat is scheduled to begin direct service between Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) on 10 December 2026. The route is expected to operate once a week, adding a direct option for travellers departing from Quebec. Montreal is the largest city in Quebec and a major gateway for francophone Canadian travellers heading to Mexico.

Porter Airlines: Ottawa to Los Cabos from 18 December

Porter Airlines is scheduled to launch direct service between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) on 18 December 2026. The route is expected to operate twice a week, giving the Canadian capital a direct link to Los Cabos for the first time.

What the New Routes Mean for Los Cabos

The three routes add air access from cities that currently lack a direct connection to SJD. The Cancun service provides a new domestic option. The Montreal and Ottawa services extend Canada’s direct coverage of Los Cabos beyond the major hubs that already carry year-round service.

December marks the beginning of the winter holiday period for North American travellers. Additional routes can expand the range of departure points available to visitors, and direct flights to Los Cabos reduce journey times by removing the need for a connection. Whether the routes perform as expected will depend on passenger demand, pricing and how consistently the schedules hold once service begins.

For the Los Cabos tourism industry, additional seats in market can benefit hotels, tour operators, restaurants and other visitor-facing businesses. The effect is always tied to actual load factors, not just the schedule announcement.

All three services are scheduled to begin in December 2026. Travellers can search for flights using the booking tool on this site or contact the airline directly. Schedules are subject to change; confirm with the operating carrier before booking.
