SAN JOSÉ DEL CABO, B.C.S., October 17, 2026. American Airlines will discontinue nonstop service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), with final scheduled operations in August 2027. The route will operate on a reduced schedule until that date.
The Charlotte service entered a seasonal suspension earlier this year and had been scheduled to resume regular operations in November 2026. American’s published schedule now reflects a limited number of flights through August 2027. The route recorded an average load factor of 73.69 percent between June 2025 and June 2026, according to industry reporting.
The change is part of a broader adjustment to American’s Mexico network, which also includes the end of Miami to Tulum service on January 5, 2027.
Continued Service to Los Cabos
American Airlines will continue to serve Los Cabos International Airport from its hubs at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Following the end of nonstop Charlotte to Cabo flights, travelers from Charlotte and the southeastern United States may reach SJD on connecting itineraries through these hubs or with other carriers serving the airport. A complete list of airlines operating at SJD is available on the airline list.

Passengers holding reservations on the Charlotte to Los Cabos route are advised to monitor communications from American Airlines regarding schedule changes. Where a flight is cancelled or significantly changed, U.S. Department of Transportation rules entitle passengers to a refund to the original form of payment if they decline the alternative travel offered.
Schedules are subject to change. Travelers should confirm flight details directly with American Airlines prior to booking. Connecting options to Los Cabos can be compared using the flight search on this site.
