Passports are required for entry into Mexico and must not be within 6 months of their expiration date. FMN Visas are digitized upon entry and linked to your passport. Please refer to your airline for any specific paperwork they may or may not provide, and for any questions.
Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid on arrival.
Warning: If departing from the USA (regardless of any destination passport exemptions), US immigration authorities require a valid passport and/or accepted departure document. Passports must be machine-readable to enter and transit.
All minors under 14 years of age, when traveling alone, should be met by an adult.
A Visa is required.
Nationals of USA with a normal passport for a maximum stay of 180 days.
Visitors not holding return/onward tickets could be refused entry.
A mandatory $27 USD fee applies to international tourists staying for more than 24 hours and must be paid online prior to entry. All international visitors over the age of 15 who stay more than 24 hours in Baja California Sur — including Los Cabos, La Paz, Loreto, and Todos Santos — are required to pay the tourism tax and any associated fees. This is subject to Article 129bis of the Baja California Sur State Finance Law.
SJD Los Cabos Airport, San Jose del´Cabo International Airport Visitors require a passport and the “Migration Form for Tourists, Transmigrants, Visiting Businesspersons, or Visiting Consultants” [commonly referred to as a FMM Tourist Card or, an FMM (“Forma Migratoria Múltiple,” previously referred to as an FMT), is a tourist permit that is required for all foreign citizen travelers to Mexico who’s sole purpose is tourism and will not be working in Mexico. These are obtained from airlines during transit or at your point of entry into Los Cabos. *Note: these are going through a digitization process upon entry in Immigration.
Canadian citizens, including those with dual nationality, will be required to present a valid passport in order to enter Mexico. Canadians without a valid passport will be denied entry and returned to Canada. There is no current Mexico customs declaration form online.
The Mexican government provides an online service to create, print, and have your tourist card ready to present upon entry at Los Cabos Airport. (Contact them, not us, if you have issues)
When traveling from the USA you need a passport to enter Mexico. You may also use:
